Welcome to the Simple Living Farms Newsletter

Welcome, the wait is finally over!
Here’s a 30,000 ft overview of who we are, what our farm is all about, and what this newsletter is for.
My wife, Vivian (27) and I, Trevor (25) moved to Excelsior Springs in 2022. Crazily enough we had only passed through ES once while we were on the way from our summer internship selling books door-to-door on the east coast to our home base in Colorado. A month later we packed up our lives into a Uhaul and trekked across the plains on our conquest to farm some land via a hand-shake-lease-agreement. We arrived in town by nightfall to a house we would be renting sight unseen, plopped down a mattress on the living room floor to rest our heads for the night, and the rest is history!
At Simple Living Farms our mission is to steward creation to heal both the people and the land, providing local families with regenerativly-raised pork, chicken, and eggs.
We never thought, not in a million years, that we’d be farmers… But when we were tossing the idea around, we did know that we wanted to put a lot of emphasis on community. So, our newsletter is meant to give the community a glimpse into life at the farm, our stewardship practices that separate us from the herd (pun definitely intended🐖), and updates on events at the farm/product offerings. Our newsletter will be sent on a weekly/bi-weekly basis and will hopefully be kept to a 1-5 minute read if I can help myself from getting carried away.
Farm Events & How to Get Involved
Farm Tour - July 13th from 11am-12pm - Rayville - Free
We will meet at the Van Till Family Farm Winery (13986 Highway C Rayville, MO 64084) at 11 am, carpool to the farm (about a mile away), spend around 30 minutes meeting the pigs, chickens, and teaching on a couple of our favorite stewardship practices. Then to conclude, we’ll drive back to the winery and anyone who wants to stay for lunch is welcome. They have to-die-for pizza cooked in a wood fired oven! - Please RSVP by texting Trevor @ (816) 310-9631
Farm to table dinner in the process of being scheduled - will most likely be in August

Food From the Farm and How to Order
Eggs - Our hens are pasture raised, rotationally grazed, and non-gmo.
If you’re wondering what in the world any of that means, that’s completely normal! We had no clue either at the beginning… Stay tuned to future newsletters/social media for more info on our stewardship practices.
Usually families get 1-4 dozen a week. We deliver to church folks on Wednesday night after church. Home delivery is also available weekly in 64024, 64077, and 64084 area codes.
Chicken will be ready on 6/19 - Like our hens, our chicken is pasture raised, rotationally grazed, and non-gmo.
Whole chickens available - 4lbs-6lbs on average
Or custom cuts - buy by the pound of breasts, wings, tenders, legs, etc.
Pigs will be butchered on 7/18 - Our pigs are forest raised (they get to forage on tasty nuts, fruits, and roots), rotationally grazed, and non-gmo.
Whole hogs (120 lbs of meat), half hogs (60 lbs of meat), and custom cuts (bacon, pork chops, ribs, sausage) available.
