Simple Living Series: Vol. 1

Greetings from the big city of Rayville, Missouri 😉

This past week on the farm was a blur… We sent our first group of pigs to the butcher (went off without a hitch, praise the Lord!), our flock is starting to gel with each other, and we closed on a property a quarter mile down the road from the property we lease!

This week we’ve got a never before seen segment; Simple Living Series. In Viv’s creation she’ll muse on a simple life and showcase her editorial proess, enjoy!

Simple Living Series: Vol. 1 - Why the Name Simple Living Farms?

The title of a book by Duane Elgin puts it best: “Voluntary Simplicity: Toward a way of life that is outwardly simple, and inwardly rich.”

In essence, that is what we’ve GROWN to believe in. It wasn’t always like that for us though… With Trev growing up in Denver, and I in Birmingham, we were surrounded by every modern convenience. That’s the way of the world now a days… Everything is sped up, more productive, more complex, and more consumer-driven. And I am in no way bashing our capitalist culture; it has driven many people to move to this land of opportunity. America is the world’s largest sandbox, you can build whatever you can dream up. And at Simple Living Farms, we’ve been dreaming of building a simpler life… A life that’s based around enjoying the outdoors, enjoying healthy food, and enjoying family & friends - God’s greatest and most simple gifts to this Earth.

It’s easy for us humans to take those gifts and turn them into conveniently packaged little  brown paper boxes tied up with string. Cheap food, and cheap entertainment run amuck and are creating loads of complications on the other side of the quick dopamine release they tend to give us at first. Social media causing ADHD, and depression; fast food causing a health crisis epidemic…

WE WANT TO GET BACK TO A SIMPLE WAY OF LIVING, and we’re excited to have each and every one of you with us on this journey towards an inwardly rich life.

How You Can Help In The World of Tech - Please Don't Skip This

#1 Add [email protected] to your email contacts. - This prevents our emails from going to spam and makes sure you get important information.

#2 Open Every Email - Even If You Don't Read Them :)
So this may seem small but it really really matters. Why?

Basically Google and other email providers track how often an email is opened to guess if it is important or not. If you don't open an email often enough than your inbox may stop showing it altogether. But it has a cumulative effect so if enough other people don't open theirs you might not see it too.

We are trying to walk back this trend and we could really use your help. Even if you don't have time to read the email ( I totally get it - no hurt feelings) would you please open it first and then delete it?  Thank you for keeping our small farm from being erased by big tech email filters!

#3 Share about our farm with your friends!
It really really makes a huge difference when you share with others about where you get your pasture raised bounty from! Plus it can make a huge difference in their life as well.

#4 Like us on Facebook + Instagram and share kitchen creations, unboxing pics, and all things Simple Living Farms
When you share about our farm we try to repost if too our page. It's really pretty cool to see!

Thank you for going the extra mile to support our family farm and regenerative agriculture! It is an honor to be your farmers!
